About

Welcome to THE FEED, a weekly round-up of the latest and most interesting news on access and affordability in higher education, published by Georgetown University’s Office of Advancement. Since its launch, THE FEED has been recognized with three awards by the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE).

Georgetown is committed not only to ensuring access and affordability for all Hoyas, but also to deeply engaging in the national conversation about cost and equity of opportunity in 21st century higher education. We hope this weekly update makes it easy for you to stay current on these critical topics.

THE FEED’s METHODOLOGY

Each week, our team scours national, regional, and local sources for the most interesting and relevant stories on access and affordability in higher education. It’s a complex topic, so we cast a wide net in our searches; on any given week THE FEED might include stories on efforts to support first-generation college students, community college innovation, federal policy on higher education loan forgiveness, college opportunities for incarcerated people, changes in standardized test requirements for college admission, and efforts to improve college graduation rates in rural populations…among other topics.

Our news summaries are designed to quickly synthesize key points so that in just a few minutes you can understand the week’s access and affordability landscape. But we clearly source our round-ups, providing links to the original articles so that you can take a deeper dive on any given story.

THE PROGRAMS AND PEOPLE SHAPING OUR COMMUNITY

In addition to sharing news from around the nation, we’ll alert you to the groundbreaking work taking place on our campuses. As part of our Jesuit tradition of cura personalis, or care of the whole person, Georgetown strives to meet each student’s unique needs—through scholarships and support across all dimensions of learning and formation.
